Participant Class 

 

Our core program open to 16-20 college students and/or professionals. As a Participant, you will work closely and personally with STC Faculty performing for at least 30 minutes between 2 separate masterclasses, rehearse with and be coached by our faculty in a chamber group comprised of your peers, play beside our Faculty and fellow Participants during orchestral section sit-ins, attend guest clinics, and perform on the final concert with your chamber group and in the Massed Trombone Choir. For a full line-up of events you can expect as a Participant, visit our Schedule page. You must be between the ages of 18 and 35 to apply. 

Honors Class 

 

Comprised of the top 4 Participants (3 tenors, 1 bass) based on their audition, Participants selected to the Honors Class will have the opportunity to perform for our Guest Artist in their masterclass as well as receive a chamber coaching from them. In addition to working closely with our Guest Artist, Participants selected to the Honors Class will also play for one of our Faculty members in a second masterclass for a total of at least 30 minutes between 2 separate masterclasses, rehearse with and be coached by our faculty in a chamber group comprised of your peers, play beside our Faculty and fellow Participants during orchestral section sit-ins, and perform on the final concert with your chamber group and in the Massed Trombone Choir.  You must be between the ages of 18 and 35 to apply. 

Auditor Class 

 

We are glad to return the Auditor Class to our offerings to mark the beginning of the Southwest Trombone Conference. Auditors will have access to attend all masterclasses, guest lectures, and will participate in our daily warmups and perform in the massed ensemble on our final concert. Auditors may select how many days they would like to attend the festival when registering online. For a full line-up of events, please visit our Schedule page.

Tuition

Tuition rates are as follows:

  • Participant and Honors Class: $800

  • Auditors: $75/day or $400 if registered for all 6 days at STC

 

Non-refundable Application Fee: $40

Non-refundable Early Application Fee*: $20

*Materials must be received by April 1st, 2024 to qualify for the Early Application Fee

Tuition rates include the cost of all events and classes, including concerts, masterclasses, coachings, etc. Application fees are NOT applied toward your Tuition rate if accepted. 

 

Private lessons are also available to all attendees for an additional cost of $50 per 30 minutes with any of our Faculty members. 

If accepted, a $200 Deposit is due by May 15 and the remaining $600 balance is due by June 15. Should you be unable to attend for any reason, you will be reimbursed 50% if notice is given by July 1st. Should you notify us later than July 1st of your inability to attend STC, no refund will be given.

Housing

All who attend the Southwest Trombone Conference are responsible for their own lodging, meals, and transportation. There are some hotels nearby which offer competitive rates.
